Planning for Christmas Breakaway

I know it's too early to be planning for Christmas getaway... but it's better to know early on what we're gonna be doing to avoid the Christmas rush. I have written my holiday destination wish list and my husband and I were talking about realistic options for our Christmas getaway. We have come down to two options:
  1. 1. Kerala, India - My husband hasn't been to India. Ever. So thinking of digging his roots there. Although his auntie has been discouraging us to go to their place in Kerala because the place is almost abandoned... and the house looks like in the middle of the jungle already. But I guess it won't hurt to see the place. Besides Air Asia flies direct to Kerala and will start in December. It would be great to take the opportunity to be the first to fly there by Air Asia.
  2. 2. Singapore - we have a friend that gives us a free hotel stay at Berjaya Hotel in Singapore. We used to drive there a lot for a short vacation. But ever since my girl came into the picture we haven't done it. It would be good to introduce Singapore to her. Not the shopping kind at Orchard Road... just the fun things to do at Sentosa Island. It would be good to see what's hot in fashion there too. Usually Singapore is way ahead of latest fashion compared to Malaysia. I remember seeing a lot of girls wearing hot shorts there 3 years ago. Only this year has Malaysia caught up with hot shorts. Not that I wear it. I still am not confident enough to show my hot legs. LOL. There is actually available free seats now going to Singapore via Air Asia. I am so tempted to just use it instead of driving. But it would be better to drive and have a car to use while there. We could freely move around and see our friends easier. Singapore is a small country and is not like New York that could use airport shuttles. And speaking of airport shuttles, there's this Laguardia Airport Shuttle that offers affordable, reliable and safe ground transportation services throughout New York City and the surrounding suburbs. Their share-ride airport shuttles provide transfers in each direction between LaGuardia Airport and hotels, residences and businesses between Battery Park and 125th Street. And what more, they operate every day of the year.
So we are deciding between two destinations only. New York is still not an option. Cannot afford wan. Probably if my hubby will have another sponsorship, then I'd go with him. For now, it's either Kerala India or Sentosa Island, Singapore.

My Holiday Destination Wish List

I've always been wanting to travel all over the world. I know it sounds too ambitious. But who doesn't want to see the world? I have only been to a few countries and only in Asia. There are a lot of countries that I want to visit. I am actually planning on a back packing trip around South East Asia, especially on the Golden Triangle... if God permits then to China. I would love to visit the south of China. Oh well, since I'm talking about my plans in visiting other countries in Asia, I might as well write down my holiday destination wish list which includes:

  1. 1. Kerala, India. - my husbands roots came from there. His parents visited Kerala two years ago because they haven't been to India all their lives. From what I have gathered, Kerala is the only state in the world that has 100% literacy rate. But what surprised me though is that Kerala is a laid back state... a not so industrialized state. They have a cool place like Camerons. And I heard that Air Asia flies straight from Malaysia to Kerala, India, in December this year!
  2. 2. Australia - I have an aunt who has been in Australia for more than 5 decades now and I want to see her and the place. We have a lot of friends there who have migrated from Malaysia there who are waiting for us, too.
  3. 3. Europe - anywhere in Europe would do.
  4. 4. America - it's everyone's dream to go to America. And I admit, I dreamed of going to America since I was a child. I had an opportunity once, to go with my husband, but I let it slipped by. It won't happen again. I'm sure to go with hubby the next time he goes there. I would love to visit New York. Speaking of New York, there's a charter bus nyc that offers charter transportation for groups of any size with their 9 to 57 passenger vehicles. Their business has been there for 20 years and they pride themselves in customer satisfaction, their clean and well maintained vehicles and on time service. They provide the lowest possible rates compared to third party sites that tack on broker commissions. I believe there are many beautiful places to visit in New York. It would be cool to see them.
There are more places that I want to visit. For now, 4 in my wish list would do.

Schenker Just Turned 4!

And we had a party at home. It was very tiring preparing for all the stuff needed for the party but it was all worth it. Schenker enjoyed his party with his friends. Our house was filled with people (because some of his friends didn't RSVP so we thought we could bring in the clown inside the house instead of doing it outside) but it was fun. Everyone was in-tacked! And besides, we avoided the heat outside.

I ordered a clown cake. My friend Grace did a great job with it. If you are in Malaysia and you want to order a customize cake, visit her blog at The Kitchen Journal. She's really very creative. And of course, my cupcakes worked too!
The kids had a blast with Papaya, the Clown.

Even the parents had fun too. They were all laughing as the clown was "clowning" around. My blogger friends (josiet and steph) whom I have met personally came too. All the Pinoy expats whom I met on our Pinoy get together were all here and they brought some friends along. Glad to have them in my house for the party.

His cousin Joshua thought it was his birthday so he made sure to get to the center and blow the candles himself. Obviously, my Schenker didn't mind sharing the limelight. He's all grown up after all!
To all our guests who came and celebrate with us Schenker's 4th Birthday bash, Thank you so much for coming. We enjoyed your company. Thanks to Schenker's classmates' parents for taking the time to come too. I know it's Deepavali time and everyone had to go somewhere for open house and all that... I appreciate you all coming.
We had so much food left. Not because they were not nice nobody wanted to eat... but because I prepared too much. I even asked my mom-in-law to cook some dishes too. And they were all great. Now we have food supply for a few days. And now I need one of those ephedra diet pills to shed off the pounds I gained for eating too much.

I actually posted more photos at my facebook account here: Schenker's 4th Birthday Party. This party explains my blog hiatusness for a few days. I was busy preparing for my son's birthday. But now I am back to business. As usual.

skywatch - from the ground

Just testing on a different angle of taking sky shot. I took it from the ground! For more beautiful sky scene, just click the image below.

ooppsss.. i wasn't very clear. when i said this was a skywatch from the ground, i didn't mean to say that i got down on the dirt/ground just to take the shot. i just put the camera down without looking at the lens, took a few shots so i could choose which one had a nice shot. probably the bug indeed looked at the lens and took this one (bug's eyeview). LOL.

My Husband Appeared on The Star Malaysia Newspaper

This is just another proud moment for me. After my boy's success performance for his speech of introducing his class performance, here comes another success. My husband on the Star Malaysia Newspaper. What can I say? I belong to a family of stars!

Actually, Peter is the Chairman of the organizing committee for the Tour of Hope. This is the Brazilian World Cup team having charity event/tour to raise funds for the cyclone Nargis victims in Myanmar. It's great to be involved in doing events for a cause. The match between Brazil, comprising several players from the 1994 and 1998 World Cup squads, and Kedah will be played at the Darulaman Stadium on Nov 7.

weekend snapshot - deepavali

This looks like a carpet but no, it is not. It is one of the Deepavali decorations that you can find all over Malaysia (usually in public areas like malls) now. It is an art made out of rice grains of different colors. I spotted this in Sunway Pyramid while I was out with a friend.

Diwali, or Deepavali, (Markiscarali) is a major Indian festival, and a significant festival in Hinduism, Sikhism and Jainism. Many legends are associated with Diwali. Today it is celebrated by Hindus, Jains and Sikhs across the globe as the "Festival of Light," where the lights or lamps signify victory of good over the evil within every human being . The festival is also celebrated by Buddhists of Nepal, particularly the Newar Buddhists.

Well, to all my Hindu friends, Happy Deepavali or Diwali to you guys.

A Website or a Blog?

It's funny when you meet people and they want to know more about you, they would ask for your website. It's probably a norm nowadays that every person you meet has his own website already. Or a blog. Wait, what's the difference? Is there a difference between a website and a blog? Sometimes I also confuse myself. When I meet people, they ask me whether I have a website. And I would normally say yes. And they would ask me what's my website address and I would give my blog address. Hehehe. Actually, just now I was searching for the difference between a website and a blog, if there's really a difference. And you know what? They are not the same... and yet, they're related. According to Lorelle, A website is a collection of web pages on a server. It is a form of static billboard on the Internet that showcases information. There is more to the definition, but for our needs, this is good enough. A website can be a collection of articles, news, links, information, photographs, and anything you want. And a website can even host a blog! A blog is a website or part of a website that usually features journals, comments, editorial comments, etc... Now, I hope I am not confusing you more because I am.

Anyways, to un-confuse you, I recommend reading webhosting blog. Apparently, this blog, or website, talks about webhosting, which can be beneficial if you want to create a website. I have learned that sometimes, when we choose a webhosting site to host our website, we make a few mistakes. But fear not, because webhosting geeks has some suggestions on how to avoid these mistakes. At www.webhostinggeeks.com, they also rate the top 10 webhosting sites which will be easier for you to choose which webhost to choose. They will tell you which host is the cheapest, which webhosts offer better service, with free domain, and which webhost has the most satisfactory report. Well, thank God for the geeks. They just make our lives easier by doing the rating that can save us headaches (and time too) in choosing which webhost to choose.

Schenker's First Ever Performance

Our boy made us proud that night. Q-dees' 3 schools came together to have a Graduation program on that night ( PRMM, SRi Andalas and USJ 18). Before the graduation ceremony was the cultural dance presentations by the different classes from the 3 schools. Our boy was chosen to introduce his class. That made us doubly proud of him.

Just before leaving the house, he was crying because he didn't like his outfit. He said his costume was not nice.

But look at him at the backstage. I almost couldn't recognize him because his teacher put on his make up and put gel on his hair. LOL.

His classmates posed with him when they saw I was taking photograph.

Very colorful night with all the different costumes from the different classes at Q-Dees Annual Concert 2008.

And here it is, Jan Schenker Nambiar's first ever performance at 4 years old. at Q-dees Annual Concert, 2008. I hope you'll enjoy this. He was introducing his class performance. He stood up bravely in front of 1,000 people and made his speech very well. Congratulations, my son. We were indeed so proud of you that night. You did very very well.

Apparently, his sister was calling him from where we were sitting. And he saw his sister, waved at her and told his classmates it was his sister. LOL!

Glued to the Box?

Nowadays, with so many TV channels sprouting... it's just so hard which channel to switch to. You need to have some kind of niche to be able to decide which channel you want to turn on. Of course, having kids around, you have no choice but to switch to family friendly channels. And of course, if you're a sports fan, there's no where else to go except to NFL TV. They offer NFL TV Package to choose from. You can actually watch your favorite sports, especially if you're an NFL fan. You catch up to 200 NFL games per season. Which just means that you can actually see up to 14 NFL games each and every Sunday! Isn't that great? So if you have a dream team or favorite NFL team, you can follow their every game and be up to date with the latest NFL games update.
By signing up, you will have Direct TV NFL Sunday Ticket that's specially featured just for you, to keep you in the game, each and every week. You can order your Direct TV NFL Sunday Ticket now and keep in tuned for the info of the 2008 season. So if you're a real NFL sports fan, take the offer and get NFL Sunday Ticket. There's nothing like watching your favorite sports on TV and even better if you don't miss any session. Of course, this is a good reason to be glued to the box, you think?

Anyways... my husband is not into watching sports on TV. he is just too busy to do that. All the more with kids are they are too busy watching Baby Einstein, Barney and The Donut Man on video. So there's no way we could change different channels for now. Maybe when they grow up, then we can take turns. Hmm... actually I can watch my own TV program only when they're asleep or when they do something else. But this I know, nobody in the family is glued to the box. After all, it's not healthy to do that.

Wednesday Concert

I just got a reminder today from my boy's school about the Q-Dees Annual Concert. It will start at 7pm and ends at 10pm. looks like my son and his classmates are 2nd in queue to perform. That's wonderful. I was hoping they would be one of the firsts to perform. I'm glad they're second. Tomorrow we're supposed to collect his costume for the concert. And this reminds me to send him for a hair cut tomorrow! LOL! This mother is very anxious... as you can tell. I told my husband we should go there early to get a good seat. Taking photos/videos in front is not allowed. If we could have a front seat, it would be good to take shots from there. My husband laughed when I said I didn't mind going there one hour earlier. Hehehe. I just thought going there earlier means getting a good seat. Haiya. Why is it that men don't understand? My husband would probably think why is it that women are too anxious? Hehehe. Whatever.

I. Am. Just. Excited.

What We Need to Know About Urinary Tract Infection

My mom used to suffer a lot from urinary tract infection or commonly know as UTI. I was a young child then and it used to break me to see her complaining about her UTI. She has gone a lot of treatments for UTI those days and thank God she's okay now. What is UTI by the way? According to wikipedia, a urinary tract infection (UTI) is a bacterial infection that affects any part of the urinary tract. Although urine contains a variety of fluids, salts, and waste products, it usually does not have bacteria in it.[1] When bacteria get into the bladder or kidney and multiply in the urine, they cause a UTI. The most common type of UTI is a bladder infection which is also often called cystitis. Another kind of UTI is a kidney infection, known as pyelonephritis, and is much more serious. Although they cause discomfort, urinary tract infections can usually be quickly and easily treated with a short course of antibiotics.[2] Studies have shown that breastfeeding can reduce the risk of UTI's in infants.

Well for those who are suffering from UTI, worry not because D Mannose can help you eliminate bladder and urinary tract infection. Actually the D Mannose Powder is not an antibiotic so it's even safer to use. Antibiotics kill bacteria but there are good bacterias that will be affected too. The problem with traditional antibiotics is that they kill bacteria indiscriminately. There are over 1,000 species of "good bacteria" in the human body - each with their own "job" to do. UTI Slip D Mannose treats urinary tract infection (UTI) quickly and safely by causing the bacteria to be flushed right out of your body. D Mannose for Urinary Tract Infection uses this kind of treatment so it is safe to use.

My Kids' Favorite Show

Recently, I have blogged about my kids' favorite video program. It's Donut Man and the Donut Repair Club (next is Baby Einstein and Barney). Both of them love this program so much it could run in our TV the 24/7 if I let them. They just love the songs and the actions and the theme of the Donut Man show. It actually focuses in God's love and faithfulness shown through sports. The main sport here is the baseball game. So the first part will be shown withe the Donut Man (Rob Evans), Duncan the doughnut, and the kids cycling to the baseball field. Then everything revolves around playing baseball and trusting in the Lord. My boys is so hooked into this show that everytime he would ask me to buy him baseball gloves. He already has the baseball bat and the ball. He's actually very good in it now coz he can already hit the ball with the bat. The only thing is he must practice the throws. He's still not good in throwing the ball to the hitter. But it's actually good to expose kids to sports at a young age, to cultivate sportsmanship and love of sports. Now I checked online on where to find and buy Baseball Gloves for kids and I found the right place to get one. At kidsportsinc.com, they offer everything sports. If you visit the site, you can see that they're featuring some fall products. They offer baseball equipment, soccer, roller/street hockey, NFL kids' fan gear, and everything sports. So it's easy to get the things you need for sports equipment.

skywatch friday - malaysia flag

Malaysia Flag

We were driving through the streets of Kuala Lumpur on Malaysia's Independence day. I took the shot of the flag that was attached to our car. A few minutes later, it flew off. Good thing I was able to take photo of it before it left us.

Practice Concert

Today was a practice day for my boy's concert. Q-dees USJ 18 is having it's annual concert on October 15, 2008 at Civic Center, Petaling Jaya. My boy went to school earlier than usual. He was very excited because for the first time in his life, he's going to ride on a bus! He's been wanting to ride on a bus and we've been telling him next time we'll do but we never get around to doing it. Today he finally did it as Q-dees hired a bus to transport all of them to Civic Center (Pusat Sivik) for their practice.

We are quite excited too as this is our boy's first ever concert. They're all going to perform something and parents were not allowed to go to practice coz they all want to surprise the parents of what the kids are supposed to do on that day. We already have informed our relatives for this concert and everybody is excited. Just don't know who's excited enough to come and see our boy. Anyways, the concert starts at 7:00pm and ends at 10:00pm.

I.am.excited!
