When I was a child, I used to get excited when the rain came because that would mean I could bathe and play in the rain. My parents were okay with it. Here in Malaysia, no parents would allow their kids to play in the rain, lest they get sick (if I'm not mistaken, that is).
Do you know that when you use rain water to wash your hair, it makes the hair soft and shiny? That's a fact. I have tried. So sometimes, we would keep rainwater in the bucket just so we could use to to wash our hair. LOL.
Anyways, back to playing in the rain... Nowadays, I sort of like encouraging my kids to do the same. It would make a memorable experience for them. But of course, since they're not used to it, I let them bring umbrella outside.

Hi, Janet. I used to play in the rain, too--a lot! I loved it. (I grew up in an area close to Baguio.) Now that I think about it, we often had prolonged pouring rain, no boring drizzles or mild rain. lol Anyway, it made for a good soak and perfect for imaginary adventures. Believe it or not, my friends and I (at age 7 or 8) covered a good 3km of running around and playing our heroic adventures in our underwear! Hahah. Good times. Good times. I have a lot of childhood memories under the rain.
It's a wonderful way to share "pure play" with your kids. It beats video games any day.
