Found a House!

Today was our second day to look for a house. It actually helps if you know what you're looking for. It narrows down the criteria. For us, we want a convenient place. Convenient means near the kids' school. So we thought of considering USJ 18 only. But we wanted to widen our horizon today and went to USJ 17, checked out Tropicana Condominium and checked out the USJ 19 Condominium. Both places have the advantages and disadvantages. The Tropicana Condominium has facilities like a swimming pool, etc. But it's a long walk to the kids' school. USJ 19 is most convenient when it comes to shopping because there's Carrefour downstairs, play area for kids, restaurants, 7 Eleven, etc. But you have to cross the main road to get to the kids' school. I flinch every time I imagine myself with the kids crossing that big road.

We finally drove around USJ 18. Went to the last block... and there it stood, 3rd to the last house, a newly renovated house. We called the agent and asked the price. We were dismayed to know the offer was 1,400RM! The agent allowed us in and surprised to see that the house had 6 rooms with (read my lips) 8 bathrooms! Yes, that house had 8 bathrooms! There was one bathroom for each room and common 1 bathroom/toilet downstairs and 1 common bathroom/toilet upstairs. I actually liked the lightings, the doors, knobs, built-in cabinets and 2 kitchens... one for dry kitchen and the other wet/dirty kitchen. It was amazing. The house was.

But what do we do with 6 rooms? I was already imagining setting up one room each for our kids, one guest room, one study room, and one toy room. But... how are we going to pay 1,400RM/month?

So we checked out another house which was for rent. That house is located halfway through the kids school from our house. But it's a bit run down. It needs repainting and needs a lot of doing up... the kitchen was okay. I was fine with it. I actually check the kitchen first before going to the rest of the house. It is very important to me that kitchen has cabinets. It was actually okay... 400RM less than the price of that big house that we liked.

We came back home, discussing and weighing things. We called the agent of the big house. He told us the price was negotiable... like 200RM less. So we talked more about it. We were deciding whether we were ready to pay 200 more for a bigger house that doesn't need a lot of doing up. So we decided... we could take up the house for 1,200RM.

So while hubby was making another phone call with the agent... I was wrestling with the idea. And I did what I usually do everytime we want to make a decision. Talk to God. I said... if you're willing us to take that big house Lord, please give me reasons to be happy with our decision.

Husband came back to me after making a phone call and told me how it went:

Hubby: Mr---- we want to see the house again.

Agent: Peter, are you a Christian? (If you're from Malaysia, you would understand why it's important which group you belong with before you give out your house for rent)

Hubby: Yes

Agent: Which church?

Hubby: FGA (Full Gospel Assembly) in Old Klang Road

Agent: Ahhh I used to go there when the church was just newly set up. I know this person and that person. What do you do?

Hubby: I work for this "Christian Organization", blah blah blah.

Agent: Really Peter... Hey.. no worries about the rental fee... we can talk about it.

So, yes... we took up the house. That big house... And we're meeting up with the agent (which Peter and I assume the owner of the house) tomorrow after church.

Ain't God amazing? Indeed He knows what we need before we even tell him. He prepares everything for us way ahead. That house seems like renovated just for us... I truly praise Him for this. He never fails us. And He loves it when we always trust Him and depend on Him and be grateful for everything. I truly am grateful. Thank you, Lord.

Q-dees Sports Day 2009

Last Saturday was Q-dees Sports Day 2009. We were all very excited coz it was Samanth's first sports day activity. I was also hoping to meet Schenker's "favorite" friend. He's been talking about her since day 1. So I asked him to show me which Aida Tihani was. I actually saw her in the video of their concert which was last year. She was in a different class then. When I saw her, I told my boy: Schenker, she's very fat, what! LOL. I think I'm gonna be a monster-in-law. But you know what my boy said? No mommy, she's very thin now. LOL. So, here she is... Aida Tihani... definitely taller than him.

Here's my little girl.

Here's what Schenker did:

Here's Samantha:

She was definitely very cute. All eyes were on her coz she was moving but not really moving forward. LOL.

Here they are with their trophies: Schenker's third, Samantha's first.

And the proud mom... definitely glowing with pride.

Have I Lost, Really?

When my husband came back from his recent trip in Sabah, East Malaysia, the first thing he said was that I have lost a bit of weight. Of course, it made my heart leap. LOL. Who doesn't want to lose weight? Probably those who have nothing to lose would say not them. It is cool to lose weight. But I think I only lost a little bit of it. I can tell from wearing my clothes.

There are many ways to lose weight:

1. Eat small portions regularly.

2. Drink lots of water

3. Taking diet pills like Phenphredine. But of course, before you protest, you have to read phenphedrine review. There's a lot of positive testimony after taking this diet pill.

4. Exercise regularly

5. Be careful of what you eat... i,e... not too much sugar/carbohydrates and more on fruits and vegetables.

And of course, there's just a lot of tips on how to lose weight. In my case, I didn't have appetite to eat much nowadays. I don't know why. Less appetite, no explanation. Hopefully, this will go on. It usually comes back after telling everybody about it. Shouldn't I just keep my mouth shut then? hmmm...

Portable DVD Player

I've been meaning to get a portable DVD player since last year. I tried looking around. I didn't like the price. When I went to the Philippines last February, I stayed at my sister's place and found out she had what I was looking for. But I was disappointed to know the price of that DVD player was the same here in Malaysia... kind of standard price.

When we went to China for a break, I saw one of the shops selling portable DVD players for quarter a price. But of course, I didn't buy. I wasn't sure how long I could use it since cheap ones never last long.

I tried checking it on e-bay. I saw one second hand that was half the price... but not so sure whether I want to do e-bays now. The last time I remember shopping from e-bay, we've gone broke. LOL.

I heard that you can get those entertainment stuff from Circuit City but apparently, they have closed down already. Where oh were (or when oh when) can I have my portable DVD player?

My Internet Connection

Okay. I had been enjoying my wireless connection... until of late. Sometimes, my connection just shuts off. The good thing is, I have a neighbour (I don't know which one) that opens their wireless connection 24/7. And it's unsecured... meaning it doesn't require a certain network key to be able to connect with it. However, that neighbor, although the wireless connection is open, put a name Virus next to it's name. LOL. Are they trying to ward off other users? Probably they think if they put a virus term instead of other names, it would prevent others to use their connection? They are really funny. Anyway, I have been using their connection for almost a month now. We may need to buy a new wireless router or modem soon. I hope it's not considered stealing... to use other people's wireless internet without letting them know.

Mesothelioma

It's been probably the talk of the town. I have read friends' blogs about it. It's good to raise awareness when it comes to mesothelioma. How many of us don't know that excessive exposure to asbestos could lead to this disease? And how many of the victims do really fight for their right to claim for protection and assurance? If I haven't been reading about friends' blogs... I wouldn't know anything about it. Thank God for the new medium of awareness nowadays. People can easily be informed. Cheers to us, bloggers!

Farming - My New Hobby

Yes, I have taken up a new hobby. If you don't see me posting in my blogs, that's because I've been busy with my farm. But wait, before you could say, that farming is good for me, at least I get my daily dose of exercise I don't even need some diet supplements, I want to tell you it's not what you think it is. At least, if you're unaware of facebook... yet.

I think half of facebook members are into farming, which apparently, includes me. So all those who are farming are getting richer by the day... virtually, that is. So the farming I'm telling you about is the Farm Town game in Facebook not the real farm.

I started 3 weeks ago. Now, I'm on level 22 which means I am a mighty farmer. I have slowed down a bit though coz it takes so much of my time. It takes earning opportunities as well. I remember declining an 8$ opp because I didn't want to think of writing ideas because I was too busy with my Farm. Can you believe that?

So yes, I am slowing down a bit. Hopefully.

Hong Kong by Night

Scenic Sunday

This is how Hong Kong looks like at night, from The Peak's view. Two things I loved about Hong Kong: Beautiful tall/big buildings plus the cool weather. It's a good thing we went there when the summer just started. It's not that hot yet. In fact, the weather was still cool. Loved it.

More photos of our Hong Kong Trip.

On Diet in Hong Kong

Okay. I knew that Macau and Hong Kong have very expensive standard of living. That would mean very expensive food as well. In fact, I have budgeted, re-budgeted, re-re-budgeted our money to make sure we have enough to spend in these places. I knew it... but I still get surprised everytime I see the menu and the prices of the food.

In Macau and Hong Kong, to get a decent meal, you need to pay at least 50 HK$ for the food. As I've said, I already budgeted but my heart still breaks every time I see the prices.

The best thing about that is you can go diet while holidaying. LOL. I've always complained that I eat too much while on holidays. So if you want to go for a nice holiday and maintain your weight, please, come to Hong Kong. You won't ever need diet pills after you go back home. LOL.

Having said all these, I still don't mind paying for a decent meal. Having Swine Flu going on, we need to be careful in what and where we eat. We can't take risks when it's health we're concerned about.

it's me,

Disneyland or Ocean Park?

Friends had been telling us it's not worth going to Disneyland in Hong Kong, for a few reasons. From Malaysia itself, our friends already advised us it's not worth going there. When we reached Hong Kong yesterday, we heard the same thing. They said it's better to go to Ocean Park instead. So now, I'm confused. To go to Disneyland or Ocean Park? I cannot afford to bring my family to both... so I have to choose just one.

When I was searching the net about the entrance fee to Disneyland and Ocean Park, I saw that Ocean Park is cheaper. They also have an option to pay online because they have online payment services.

Tonight we're going to Harbourfront. See Hong Kong's beauty. I have one more day to decide which place to go.
