Law and Grace

When I saw this Pleasanton motorcycle accident attorney website, I couldn't help but wonder if there is something like that in Malaysia too. I remember when my hubby's friend got into an accident with a guy that was riding a motorcycle. The guy died instantly. Hubby's friend was so scared he called hubby what to do. That time, we were in Hong Kong taking a vacation. Hubby almost didn't wanna take the call. But he did. He's a good friend after all. Hubby asked more about the guy. It was learned that the guy was from India and was in Malaysia working illegally. So his case was different. I think no matter how they bring up the case, they couldn't do anything. The government couldn't extend much help except to send his body back to India. He was, after all, doing works in Malaysia illegally. And basing on Malaysia's law, he's supposed to be condemned.

Sometimes, when people follow the law of the land, it's hard to extend grace. Sometimes, people would think he deserved it. He deserved to die... He deserved to be condemned. But God would think differently. Even how bad people could get, and people are so undeserving, He would still willingly extend His grace.

My Parents and Food

My parents has been here for almost 3 weeks now. My mom has been cooking my favorite food like crazy. My mom loves to cook so she doesn't really mind. Sometimes though if I knew that Peter wouldn't like it, I would cook something else for him. Hubby and I came from different cultures and sometimes we have differences when it comes to food. I would cook for my kids too because they like something which they are used to already. Although my girl is more on the adventurous side and she would taste everything on the table. Of course it doesn't mean she would like everything on the table. She's just brave enough to try them.

Anyways, all this food talk is making me hungry. And I'm pretty sure that after my parents leave, I would need to make an effort to slim down. I might do some slimming pills review to see what's the best pills to use to slim down. Otherwise, I would just cut down on food intake... which probably would be hard. Anyways, it's always good to try new things. But for now, it's eat-all-you-can in our house. No complains.

Old House Internet

We haven't fixed our internet at home yet. While waiting for our internet service to be transferred to our new house, I was using Maxis Broadband. I don't quite like it because it keeps disconnecting. But it's not ours and the owner of the broadband is here. So we don't have internet at home technically.

So what do I do? I come to our old house now to connect from our neighbor's internet. They keep theirs open and no authentication is needed in order to connect. So yes, I am enjoying our neighbor's connection, for free.

At the same time, we don't have a water filter at home yet. So we keep coming to this house to get our drinking water. How inconvenient can it get? But it's just a petty thing and we don't really mind it. I can just imagine having one of those Kohler faucets with water filter though. That would be great. But for now, I think we are still much attached to our old house. The owners are only moving in on the second week of August. So we have less than a month to fix things before they come.

it's me,

Shaggy or Rugs?

There was a carpet shop we saw at Taipan when we were looking for kitchen rugs for our new house. One thing that caught my kids' attention was the shaggy from Egypt. It's quite fluffy so they were like rolling around the shaggy. Literally. Hubby liked it too. We never had a shaggy before. And we weren't thinking of buying one. We only wanted a small carpet for the living room and some rugs for the other rooms. But we couldn't resist the offer. The salesman asked how much we could afford and we told him our price. He went inside where the owner was and talked to him. When he came out, he agreed with our price. So yes, we have a small shaggy in our living room. It's quite fun!

Countrywide Sale for Malaysia in August

Everytime my friends ask me when's the best time to come to Malaysia, I would ask them first what they prefer to do. If they love shopping then I tell them to come in the month of August. In August, the whole of Malaysia would be on sale. But some shops start late in July and end in early September. But the whole month of August is surely a month of sale.

All products will have discounted price, maybe it be school supplies, industrial supplies, office supplies, house and home supplies, etc. This is one of the blessings you get if you live or make a visit in Malaysia.

When I went back to the Philippines last February, I purposely went to different shops to compare prices. I found that food in Malaysia is cheaper. For example, when I went to a food court in the Philippines, I looked at their menu and the prices. I really thought it was very expensive for a food like that.

My sister, who has been in Malaysia a few times, can also testify that shopping in Malaysia is cheaper compared to shopping in the Philippines. Not sure about the experiences of other people though. I can only tell from my own experiences.

Anyways, if you like shopping and you want to visit Malaysia, come in August. You will surely be amazed at how cheap things can get.

Dad's Checkup

We took my dad for a check up today because he's been complaining of something smelly coming out from his nose. I asked him whether he had it while still in the Philippines and he said yes. In fact, they went to Santos Hospital in Butuan City and saw an ENT specialist. But the specialist told them straight that he had to go to a lab test. Going for a lab test would cost something like 5000 Pesos (that doesn't include the consultation fee which cost something like 1500 Pesos). So my parents asked him whether he could just prescribe antibiotic first. They didn't have that amount of money. The doctor just told them he wasn't a fortune teller that he would know what to give to my father. He said he didn't want to assume... so he wanted my papa to go and have a lab test. So they went back home without medicine.

And for a few days now since they're here, my dad could smell something foul coming from his nose again. So we decided to go for a check up. I suggested to go to a GP (general practitioner) first before going to ENT. If the case was bad, I was sure that the GP would send him to an ENT specialist. When my father saw the doctor, the doctor just asked him of his symptoms and checked his mouth and nose. He straight away prescribed an antibiotic, flu and cough medicine. My father didn't have any health insurance even a cheap health insurance, so we paid. But we only paid 52RM (that's about 728 Pesos).

Imagine going for a lab test worth 5000 Pesos (with a consultation fee of 1,500 Pesos) and not having anything except a nose infection... it's very very costly then. Good thing they waited. At least, now they have a peace of mind. The ENT specialist (in the Philippines) said he could have a cancer in the nose. How bad could it get? He didn't even bother to check my father's throat and nose.

Sometimes, in some places, you have to have money to be treated well... and it's really sad.

Total Ecplise of the Sun

A lot of people know about this. I will blog about it anyway. Tomorrow, on Wednesday morning, July 22, 2009, there's going to be a total eclipse of the sun. I'm not sure whether they will show live on televisions this natural phenomenon.

It will be the longest total solar eclipse of the 21st century, lasting at greatest eclipse 6 minutes, 39 seconds, it has sparked tourist interest in eastern China and India. The eclipse is part of series 136 in the Saros cycle, like the record setting Solar eclipse of July 11, 1991.

The exceptional duration is a result of the moon being near perigee, with the diameter of the moon 8% larger than the sun (magnitude 1.080). This is second in the series of three eclipses in a month. There was a lunar eclipse on July 7 and now a solar eclipse on July 22 and then a lunar eclipse on August 6. (source: wikipedia)

When I was young, I heard a lot of superstitious beliefs of something happening after the eclipse. But whatever happens, whether true or not, I hold on to my belief that God's will remains.

Lazy Eyes

I have noticed that almost all Chinese are wearing eyeglasses, even the children. I think, from what I have learned, most of them have lazy eyes. So they need to wear eyeglasses.

Would I let my kids wear eyeglasses? Sure! If they need to wear them for better eyesight, why not? But so far, my kids don't need any pair. However, if they do need a pair, there's always this $ 8 Rx eyeglasses. Cheap, right? Sometimes, when it's cheap we tend to doubt about the quality of the product. But I discovered that it doesn't to be that way when I saw Zenni Optical on TV!!! Of course, I don't watch TV. I just saw it from my computer. Zenni Optical offers cheap but good quality eyeglasses. Even children can use them for a long time because the frames are nicely done. They look fashionable too. I'm sure kids won't be able to refuse wearing Zenni Optical eyeglasses. High Five to Zenni Optical for being cheap yet better quality eyeglasses! So during this back to school season, don't deprive your kids of getting a pair of fashionable, cheap and stylish eyeglasses .

Jack of all Trades

We always call him jack of all trades. He just knows how to fix things. Since my parents came to Malaysia, he has been fixing things. He fixed the water hose nozzle which my son broke. He fixed some electrical stuff in the house. He's just a "fixer." Hehehe. I am so blessed to have my father around. He can fix just about anything. I think he can fix car grills as well. He knows a lot of mechanical and electrical work. There's no need to hire an electrician or a plumber when he's around. My mom, on the other hand is a good cook.

So yes, I'm having a blast. And I always thank God for this blessing of having my parents around.

Having My Parents

This trip was supposed to be a birthday treat for my dad last February early this year. But because of my emergency trip to Manila to process my passport, I had it postponed and moved the trip to July.

This was one of the reasons also why we had to rush in moving out of the old house. We wanna get settled before they came.

It's nice to be able to bring my parents here. They have been here a few times already but this is going to be their longest stay here.

I'm glad because my kids could get a chance to bond with their grandparents. And it's going to be a good break for my parents. Break from their normal routine, break from staying in the same environment everyday. And sometimes when they're away and at their home in the Philippines, sometimes, phone calls are not enough. And our family cannot always make a trip to the Philippines.

I also thank God for budget airlines such as Air Asia. When I bought the tickets, Air Asia was on promotion so it was not that expensive. Air Asia is indeed a blessing. Now everyone can fly - Hehehe( that's their motto by the way).

I am just happy that my parents are here.

My Domains

I have been blogging for more than two years now. After a few months of blogging, I started monetizing my blogs. I was chatting with a friend and he was so encouraged to know that I have been earning through blogging. He asked how many blogs I have. I told him I have 6 blogs that I use for paid blogging. He was so surprised. So I told him that if you start earning with your one blog, you would definitely be encouraged to start another blog. Owning a domain is a plus point.

So how do we actually choose a domain name? When I chose my domain name, I didn't really give it much thought. But I just discovered that in choosing a domain name, you have to taken into consideration the search engine optimization.

In the world of paid blogging, we bloggers want traffic. Meaning, we want people to come and visit our blogs. But if we only have a few friends, only few people could come and visit our blogs. So what do we do to increase our traffic? We use certain keywords so that when people search for some words in their browser, i.e., janet, work-at-home mom, brand names like loui vuitton, coach, etc., they would end up in our sites.

Same goes with domain names. We have to choose a good name that would bring people to our site. Sadly, like I said, when I chose my domain names, I didn't give it much thought. So I end up having my names all over my domains. Talk about vanity and all. However, when people search a keyword like Janet (Jackson), they would end up in my site, because of the name Janet.

So how many domain names I have? So far, I have 6. I have a friend that has almost 20 domains. How she maintains it I dun know. Must ask her one day.

Also, I have discovered that if you have a website, you can have as many domain names as you can and all those point to one website. It helps a lot if you have a business and you want to maximize your search engine optimization.
